States of Power – a global strategy game about World War II from independent developer Sarunas, released on August 26, 2026. Its concept is similar to larger wargames, but the developers emphasized a quick entry point: there are no lengthy tutorials, and a full game can be played in a single evening. Divisions and the front line You command your army directly, down to individual divisions. Infantry, tanks, artillery, and fighters are strong against some opponents and weak against others, so the composition of a unit is tailored to the mission. The front is constantly moving, and an offensive without regard for supplies will quickly falter. The game is played in real time, but you can pause it to calmly issue orders. Factories, loans and ideology Provinces are built with factories, laboratories, ports, and roads. Construction, goods, military supplies, and human resources must be managed, and if funds are tight, loans can be taken out or access to the global market. The technology tree leads from the rifles of the beginning of a war to the atomic bomb. Political policies can be chosen from four options: democracy, authoritarianism, communism, or fascism, and can be changed through reforms or civil war. Diplomacy includes alliances, guarantees of independence, non-aggression pacts, and sending "volunteers" to fight in other countries' wars. Scenario editor and multiplayer In addition to the historical map, there's a built-in editor. It lets you create your own countries, redraw borders, and write events, allowing you to craft an alternative history or even a fantasy world. Completed scenarios are published in a shared catalog, where other players can download and rate them. You can play solo or online; multiplayer features both public and private chat.
