Renaissance Kingdom Wars – a strategy game about early 16th-century warfare from Reverie World Studios, published by indie.io. The game entered early access in July 2024, with the full version released on November 26 of that year. It combines city building, a global map, and real-time battles, with graphics deliberately inspired by strategy games of the 2000s. A mercenary who wants the crown The year is 1510. Wars have engulfed Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and gunpowder and mercenary armies are beginning to change the course of history. You begin as the captain of a mercenary company, serving the highest bidder. From there, everything depends on you: you can spend years working for foreign rulers, or you can build your own state and aim for the title of emperor of the entire known world. Power is won by force or diplomacy, and the political intrigues of the era are ever-present. From swords to arquebuses Battles unfold in real time: field battles, sieges, and naval engagements. The locations are diverse, from the Scandinavian tundra to the sun-baked Holy Land. Initially, armies fight with medieval weapons, but over time, cannons and arquebusiers appear, and the battles take on a completely different appearance. The map is vast, containing over five hundred provinces, from African sultanates and the Russian steppes to Western kingdoms. Cities and unions Victories bring new lands and cities, which need to be developed: building, boosting the economy, forging alliances, and expanding your sphere of influence. Conquests are saved as you move around the map, so your empire grows gradually. In addition to the single-player campaign, there's also online play, both against other players and in co-op.
