About the game
Spooky Tales — is a horror anthology of four separate stories, assembled in the style of old VHS films, cheap '80s horror flicks, and weird space horror. The game doesn't attempt a massive campaign; instead, each story functions as a self-contained short nightmare, with its own atmosphere, characters, and type of horror. The only unifying element is the undead narrator, who steers you through this collection of strange and unpleasant tales with morbid delight. Each story feels like a standalone old horror movie. In one episode, you have to sail through a black ocean at night and fish near something enormous underwater. In another, you observe a new student at the school's occult club, around whom strange things begin to happen. And then the game calmly switches to a television team of ghost hunters who have infiltrated an old factory for ratings and a good picture for the show. Because of this, the anthology constantly changes its mood and doesn't dwell on one type of fear. Visually, the game is deliberately styled to resemble older PS1-era projects: the rough graphics, dark textures, and strange, "dirty" atmosphere perfectly suit everything that happens. Instead of modern jump scares Spooky Tales More often, it's overwhelmed by anxiety, strange images, and a feeling that everything around is gradually becoming wrong. This works especially well in stories involving the sea and body horror. Features of the game Four separate horror stories. Old VHS and PS1 era style. Cosmic horror and body horror. A dead narrator with black humor.
