PO'ed: Definitive Edition – a remake of the 1995 first-person shooter, released by Nightdive Studios on May 16, 2024, in partnership with Atari. The original was inspired by DOOM and QUAKE, and featured a ship's cook as the main character. Chef vs. Aliens A ship crashes on a distant planet, is captured by aliens, and the crewmates disappear. Only the cook remains, and he's forced to take up arms. The game's tone is lighthearted: humor is balanced with blood and gore, as was common in shooters of the mid-1990s. The hero faces 16 types of creatures, including rock-throwing ogres, plasma robots, and giant bats. There are 25 levels. A drill, a meat detector and a backpack The arsenal in PO'ed is unusual even for its time. Besides the usual guns, there's a power drill and a weapon called the "meat finder." A special feature of playing in a jetpack: you can navigate levels on foot or fly above them, which changes the approach to skirmishes and finding secrets. This kind of free vertical movement was rare in shooters of 1995. What Nightdive did The studio, known for remastering old shooters, has beefed up the graphics, added anti-aliasing, and boosted the frame rate to 120 frames per second in 4K resolution. A full widescreen mode has been added, along with the interface, and the controls have been redesigned. A series of improvements fixes the original's bugs and simplifies some aspects, all of which can be disabled for seamless play. A new difficulty level is available for experienced players, and 15 achievements have been added to Steam.
