Lizard State is a single-player stealth action game with a retro sci-fi atmosphere, where you infiltrate a captured island, evade enemies, and complete a hostage rescue mission. Light and sound become fully functional tools: footsteps on different surfaces are heard differently, light sources can be turned off or destroyed, and unnecessary movement easily gives away your position. You have to not just hide, but consider a multitude of factors to remain unnoticed. The locations are designed in such a way that there's almost never a direct path. Instead, detours, hidden passages, and alternative paths open up.
