Shards of Chaos – a dark anime-style visual novel from the indie studio Chaoticway, released on January 31, 2024. A dark fantasy detective story with a nonlinear plot and timed choices, where the same story can unfold without a single drop of blood or along the "scarlet path." A mercenary named Rain The protagonist is called Rain, but no one knows her real name. In a shattered world, she has neither friends nor enemies, only a contract with an ancient Temple: find a girl named Lellia, protect her, and return to the one waiting at home. To achieve this, Rain walks into a trap. The action unfolds in the abandoned estate of the Black Rose Order, which, along with the surrounding area, is engulfed in a magical catastrophe. It transforms people into Shadows. The Traitor and the Timeless Train In this darkness, Rain meets a half-mad adventurer and a dragon girl from the Hel clan. Someone in her circle is betraying her, and she must figure them out herself, building logical chains from what she's learned. The plot revolves around time loops and recurring pain, the mysterious "Modern Hell," and a train beyond space and time. The creators explicitly state that this is not a dating sim: the focus is on drama, logic, and character relationships. Elections with a timer The story is shaped by the player's decisions. Sometimes you have to decide whether to take a risk, sometimes you have to choose your approach to the person you're talking to, and some choices are time-limited.
