About the game
Hopetown is a story-driven RPG about a journalist trying to uncover the truth in a world after a global catastrophe. After a powerful solar eruption, humanity lost its traditional means of communication, countries were transformed beyond recognition, and information became one of the most valuable resources. Your investigation leads you to New Greenwich, a small island town where the calm surface conceals far more secrets than meets the eye. Every word published has consequences Evidence doesn't simply form a story. You have to talk to residents, look for witnesses, take photographs, compare facts, and decide who to trust. Some doors open through persistence, others through cunning or the ability to put pressure on the interviewee. But no one forces you to stick to the truth. If a catchy headline seems more compelling than the actual events, you can always embellish the facts a little or even invent missing details. What makes it into the newspaper's pages impacts the world around us. An article can ruin someone's reputation, strengthen the influence of a group, or provoke new conflicts. People remember and react to what's written, so the consequences of decisions are felt far beyond the scope of a single assignment. Gradually, an ordinary investigation turns into a struggle for control of information in a society where words have long been weaponized. Features of the game A detective RPG with non-linear investigation and freedom of choice. Several journalistic styles with different approaches to presenting material. A system of skills and characters that influence dialogues and events. A world that reacts to published articles and player decisions.
