Dawn of Man – a city-building strategy survival game from Madruga Works, the creators of Planetbase, released on March 1, 2019. You lead a settlement of early humans from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, spanning over ten thousand years. Mammoth hunting During the first few years, the settlement subsists on what it can find. Animals provide meat, their hides are used for clothing, and their bones are used for tools. Mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses, primitive bison, giant deer, and cave lions can be hunted, but the party must exercise caution when dealing with large game. Besides hunting, the inhabitants gather fruits, berries, water, wood, flint, stone, and later, ore. All of this goes toward food, tools, and buildings, and supplies must be carefully planned in advance. Year by Seasons The calendar influences everything here. Spring is the best time to catch fish, summer is the best time for berries and fruits, and warmer weather makes it easier to hunt animals. Before winter, you need to stock up on food that won't spoil and warm clothing, otherwise the tribe won't survive the cold. New homes allow the population to grow, but every additional mouth puts pressure on the larders, so expanding too quickly is dangerous. Discoveries and raids Inventions gradually change life: agriculture opens up, vegetables grow in the fields, domesticated animals help with the farm and themselves become a source of food and materials. Enormous stones can be mined, hauled on sleds, and megaliths erected. But progress comes at a price: with every step, food needs grow, moral issues arise, and raids by foreign tribes become more frequent.
