Crabs Must Die – a compact first-person shooter with open-world RPG and survival elements, released on November 6, 2025. It was created single-handedly and on a budget by Roman Kharlamov, and this is evident in the title: the main enemies are mutated crabs. Forgotten Planet Your ship crashes on an abandoned planet, and all you have to do is survive. The wasteland around you is infested with mutant crabs, crazed raiders, and other aggressive creatures. The world is open, but compact: caves, swamps, and bunkers can be explored in a reasonable amount of time. The entire game takes approximately six to seven hours. The humor in the game is dark, and the creator describes it as a scaled-down version of post-apocalyptic action RPGs. Crabs come in different types Enemies vary. Some crabs charge head-on, others attack from afar, and still others get close and explode. They can be countered with pistols, rifles, shotguns, and katanas. Ammo is collected from scavenged items, and chests contain better loot. You can summon a robot companion, though the developer explicitly warns that sometimes it helps, and sometimes it just watches. Stealth is theoretically possible, but the developer admits he hasn't personally tested it. Leveling up and technique As the game progresses, the hero's stats improve and perks are unlocked. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen lighting, so the requirements for an indie project are quite substantial: 16 GB of memory and a GTX 1070-class graphics card are required.
