Absence of Light – a medieval action RPG in the vein of Dark Souls from the small studio Boa Noite, released on November 9, 2024. The main character is a skeleton who wakes up in an alien world and must restore the light there. Skeleton in the Old World The action takes place in Cloudia, or more precisely, in the part of it known as the Old World. Once a glorious kingdom, it is now ruled by the forces of darkness. The prologue briefly explains that Cloudia's fate hangs in the balance, and only our hero can save it. The path leads through several worlds, and at the end of each, dark creatures await, which must be defeated for the light to return. Weapons and combinations of blows Combat follows the Souls-like formula: enemies hit hard, and mindlessly swinging your sword isn't an option. You'll build up an arsenal along the way, each weapon with its own characteristics, and your choice depends on your preferred fighting style. Attacks combine into combos, and it's best to study your enemies before engaging in close combat. The camera is third-person, and progression is linear, with no open world. Players rate the difficulty as medium to high in reviews, and particularly criticize the camera, so it will take some getting used to. Village and secrets Between battles, the hero visits the village, speaks with its inhabitants, and collects items needed to restore the light. Secrets are hidden throughout the levels, and those who enjoy exploring every corner will find plenty to do.
