Wounded - The Beginning – a first-person survival horror game from the small studio Workbench Entertainment, published by Freedom Games. The game was released on Steam in late February 2019 and, according to the developers themselves, was made with virtually no budget. There's no combat at all: survival depends on cover and flight. Storm and the Big Rock Motel Tim sets out to sea with his daughter Lisa, but a storm catches them, separating father and daughter. His search leads Tim to the Big Rokk Motel, where unpleasant secrets begin to unravel. It gradually becomes clear that Lisa's kidnappers are connected to the work of his wife, Andrea, a renowned detective investigating the case of the Skinner. The plot is deliberately sparse: no one explains what's happening, and the pieces of the story have to be pieced together. Hide and don't breathe The game's main mechanic is hiding. There are no weapons, and fighting off enemies is impossible, so any encounter must be either endured in cover or survived by running. One wrong move can cost you your life, so it's important to first look around and figure out where to run if something goes wrong. There are no battles at all, so the tension comes from the anticipation, not the gunplay. Play with headphones The developers recommend playing Wounded alone, in the dark, and with headphones, and that's not an idle recommendation: the atmosphere is largely built on sound and environment. The game features scenes of violence, blood, flashes on the screen, and strong language, so those with a sensitive stomach should be prepared. The Xbox controller is supported.
