Varthos - Heir to the Throne — is an action RPG with roguelite elements, where the key mechanic is built around the hero chain: death doesn't end a character's attempt, but rather passes progress to the next character. Each fallen character becomes part of the overall progression, and power gradually accumulates through repeated runs, where you use the experience of previous attempts to advance. Death as a part of progress Heroes aren't locked into classes — their roles are determined by their gear and how you use it. One run might focus on close combat, another on ranged combat or survivability, all depending on the items you find. When a character dies, their progress doesn't completely reset: the next fighter picks up the pace and allows you to continue pressuring your enemies. Dungeons and locations change with each playthrough, making it impossible to memorize a route and forcing you to adapt on the fly. Enemies overwhelm with numbers and aggression, and battles require positional awareness and understanding of timing.
