Universe For Sale – a hand-drawn adventure from Tmesis Studio, published by Akupara Games, released on November 16, 2023. A mining colony floats in the clouds of Jupiter, and the heroine can create universes in a cup. Acid Rain Colony The mine has long been abandoned, and slums have sprung up around it. Here, humans, talking orangutans, robots, and skeletons live side by side, all struggling to survive the acid rain. You wander the crooked streets, visiting shabby teahouses, hawkers, and workshops where someone is always working. Almost everyone you meet has a story, and from these conversations, a picture gradually emerges of what lies hidden in the heart of the colony. Lila and the cup The main character, Lila, creates universes. One evening, an unnamed gentleman approaches her, intrigued by her gift, and she explains her craft as casually as if explaining how to brew coffee. The process itself is transformed into a minigame: you choose a ceramic cup, gather the ingredients, and Lila creates a universe to match it. These scenes are interspersed with exploration of the colony and the unraveling of its mystery. Hand-drawn animation Everything in the game is hand-drawn and animated, with the artwork by artists from the European underground comics scene, and this is clearly evident in the characters and streets. The music, composed by Guglielmo Diana, is calm and unhurried. The game has been well received: it has an 80 on Metacritic, and Steam reviews are very positive.
