Towards The Stars – a 2D space survival game from independent developer Peter Tkačov, released on March 4, 2021. You are the captain of a mining ship, watching as a massive asteroid destroys your homeworld. The miner's last flight Home is gone, and the ship becomes the crew's only refuge. To survive, they must harvest resources, research technologies, and travel ever deeper into space in search of a new home. They must explore star systems along the way, avoiding dangers along the way. The task sounds simple, but in practice, the ship demands constant attention. Fuel, energy, air There are three systems onboard that need to be monitored: fuel, power, and life support. If any of these systems drops to zero, the crew is in serious trouble. Resources for these are mined from asteroids. Regular resources are used to maintain the ship, while rare finds are spent on upgrades. Controlling the ship is particularly challenging: in space, there's no drag or gravity, and the ship keeps flying until you stop it. This type of piloting takes some getting used to, and the developer explicitly states that it's not easy to master. Friends on the same screen In addition to the single-player campaign, there's local multiplayer for several players with gamepads on the same computer. There are four modes: free-for-all, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and racing. The same gravity-defying flight physics apply to these modes as well.
