TIMEGAL HD-Remaster – a remaster of TAITO's 1985 laserdisc arcade game. The new version was released on Steam in April 2025, with the artwork restored from the original laserdisc. This is Taito's third laserdisc game, a hand-drawn anime in which the player controls the heroine by pressing buttons at the right time. A Pursuit Through the Ages The story begins in the year 3001. A villain named Lyuda steals a time machine and travels back in time to rewrite history and take over the world. He's being pursued by Reika, a time police officer nicknamed Time Gal. The chase takes place across various eras, including dinosaurs, cavemen, pirates, gladiators, giant robots, and aliens. Each scene is short, and the shifting eras keeps the game's pace moving. How to play it This isn't a typical action game, but an interactive cartoon. The animation plays itself, and you press a button or tilt the stick at the right moment to make Reika dodge a trap or hit an enemy. A mistake immediately ends in failure, and each danger has its own, often humorous, version of failure. Therefore, many scenes require replaying several times, memorizing the correct sequence of actions. What's new in the remaster? In addition to updated graphics, the remaster offers a choice of voices: ARRANGE with new, cleaner recordings or ORIGINAL with arcade-style sound. The settings menu lets you adjust the number of lives, difficulty, screen size, bonus lives for scoring, and continues after defeat. There's an option to reduce the difficulty after several consecutive failures, and you can reset your high scores. If you played NINJA HAYATE HD-Remaster from Taito, the mechanics will be familiar.
