Last May, German studio Deck13 Interactive, together with publisher Focus Home Interactive, released the sci-fi action RPG The Surge, with gameplay mechanics borrowed from FromSoftware's Souls series. The Surge received above-average critical acclaim and was well-received by gamers, prompting the decision to release a sequel. The announcement was made recently, and the game is slated for release in 2019. The second part fully preserves the project's concept: a complex combat system requiring extreme caution and precision; tactical choice of enemy body parts to target; and a detailed character development system. Furthermore, the environment will be completely changed — the protagonist will now travel through a ruined, deserted city. Levels promise to be larger in scale, and the graphics more impressive.
