About the game
The Prisoning: Fletcher's Quest is a light Metroidvania set inside the mind of a game developer, driven to breaking point by deadlines and doubts. After a strange visit to a psychologist, you find yourself trapped in a distorted projection of his mind, where anxiety materializes in the form of corridors, traps, and monsters. This isn't just an escape — it's an attempt to piece together your identity. Reason as a level The locations feel like fragments of an unfinished project: rough rooms, scraps of code, areas seemingly forgotten during the prototyping stage. The space is rebuilt procedurally, creating a sense of instability. Upgrades and new weapons symbolize the return of control, while enemies embody the fear of failure, fatigue, and obsessive thoughts that prevent completion. The bosses represent key crises — creative block, self-doubt, fear of being misunderstood. The story is told with self-irony, at times absurd, at others painfully honest. The pixelated aesthetic emphasizes the fragility of the events, and the strange visual choices add to the sense that everything is on the brink of collapse. Features of the game Procedurally generated zones within the "mind". A system of improvements and gradual expansion of capabilities. Bosses as symbols of internal crises. Self-ironic tone based on real events.
