Sparks - Episode One – a small cartoon-style arcade racing game from Trapezium Development Studio, released on July 18, 2021, after six months in Early Access. Developed by a single person, it was conceived as a relaxed, non-violent game where you can both compete and simply enjoy the ride. Eight cars and three tracks There's not much content, and the author doesn't hide it. The garage contains eight cars, each with its own character and appearance. There are three tracks, but each is spacious and well-designed. You can tackle them individually or build a cup and drive them back-to-back. There are three difficulty levels, and the hard one isn't just for the thrill, as discussed below. The controls are simple, requiring little getting used to, and sliding through corners is a fundamental part of the driving experience. Hidden versions of tracks The main reason to return to the game: unlockable track variations. Beating all three tracks on a high difficulty unlocks their alternate versions. Beating these alternate versions on the same difficulty unlocks a mirror mode for them. This allows for significantly more runs across the three tracks, and each subsequent version requires a more confident approach. Ride without a goal The world is low-poly, bright, and spacious. There's no need to race against the clock: you can simply cruise along the tracks, look around, and listen to upbeat music. The game is suitable for the whole family; there's no shooting or violence.
