About the game
SOS Recordings is an atmospheric psychological horror film about a strange incident in the mountains of Hokkaido, which actually happened. Two people disappear in the forests near Mount Asahi, and rescuers notice a giant "SOS" sign made of birch tree trunks right in the middle of the wilderness. From there, the story begins to look increasingly unnatural. Where did the sign come from? Who made it? And why does the place itself feel like you shouldn't have gone there in the first place? Fog, films and a feeling of wrongness Everything is built around an unsettling atmosphere and a sense of loneliness amidst vast, empty nature. Narrow paths, cold rivers, dense forest, and constant fog create a feeling as if the world around us is gradually cutting off our path back. Old recordings only reinforce this feeling: fragments of voices, tape noise, and strange details begin to coalesce into a story that grows increasingly heavy and frightening without any direct explanation. Visually, the game is reminiscent of old Japanese horror films and found footage VHS tapes. Low-poly environments, muted colors, and a near-total absence of unnecessary noise make the action very quiet, but it's precisely this silence that becomes the most oppressive. The fear here stems not from jump scares, but from the feeling that the mountain itself is holding something alien and slowly drawing you into its story. Features of the game A psychological horror film based on a real case. The unsettling atmosphere of the Japanese wilderness. Audio recordings and the investigation of the disappearance.
