Shifting Sands is a single-player adventure roguelike with evacuation and survival mechanics on a desert planet, where daily sandstorms constantly reshape the world around you. You play as a prospector who embarks on dangerous expeditions in search of valuable parts, rare components, and abandoned shipwrecks. The desert never remains the same: yesterday's finds disappear beneath the sand, new ruins arise among the dunes, and familiar routes can lead to completely unexpected places. To survive and evolve, you'll have to learn to adapt to the ever-changing conditions. Risk for the sake of valuable prey Each expedition begins with exploring a new map formed after a recent storm. Search for wrecked ships, search hidden caches, spot debris, and avoid dangerous areas where raiders live or mysterious anomalies arise. The further you travel from the Nexus, the higher the chance of finding rare materials, but returning becomes increasingly risky. You must assess the situation, choose a route, and decide in good time whether to continue the expedition or return with the valuables you've already found. The limited backpack space is especially important. Common items provide some benefit, while rare components can unlock important upgrades but take up precious slots. If you die during a raid, almost all loot is lost, with the exception of the contents of your protected Omnipack. In the Nexus, collected materials are transformed into useful gear: scanners for finding stashes, reinforced boots for traversing the dunes, and cutters for opening sealed passages.
