RiffTrax The Game – a comedy game for the company from Wide Right Interactive, released on May 5, 2022. In it, you compete to see who can offer the funniest commentary on a scene from a downright bad movie, while the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 share their jokes alongside you. Who is RiffTrax? Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett are best known for their Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning show Mystery Science Theater 3000. For over fifteen years, they've been recording witty movie commentary under the name RiffTrax. The game brings this format to your couch: a clip plays onscreen, and you come up with a line to make everyone laugh. How does the round go? The database contains over 500 excerpts, including from RiffTrax classics like Rollergator, Attack of the Super Monsters, and Plan 9 from Outer Space, with more being added. You can write your own joke and have it read by a speech synthesizer, or choose from thousands of ready-made lines created by the RiffTrax team. Players then vote for the best one. Joining is easy: everyone opens a webpage in a browser on their phone, tablet, or laptop and enters the room name and code from their computer screen. How many players You can play solo, with a bot, or with a group of three to six players, and up to twelve viewers can vote. There's local play, online matchmaking with opponents from around the world, cross-platform play, and voice chat. The room can be made public, closed with a code, or completely local.
