RESEARCH and DESTROY – a tactical action game from Implausible Industries, published by Spike Chunsoft on April 26, 2022. Three scientists save humanity from supernatural hordes, and they do it the scientific way: first an autopsy, then a new weapon. Science versus evil spirits The world is nearly destroyed by otherworldly creatures, and three brilliant scientists are the last hope. Their approach is simple: study the enemy to find a cure. Defeated creatures are dissected, and the knowledge gained is used to develop and improve high-tech weapons and gadgets. Meanwhile, the search for the source of the threat, which is the very reason for the entire campaign, is ongoing. The situation changes, and tactics must be adapted to the new enemies. Turn by turn, real-time combat The game's main feature is its mixed system. Planning is step-by-step: you calmly decide where to send each scientist and what they should do. The skirmishes themselves, however, take place in real time, requiring a quick reaction. This combination is rare, and it's what sets the game apart from typical turn-based tactics games. The graphics are cartoonish, comic-style, and humorous, and the enemies include plenty of zombies and other evil spirits. Co-op The campaign can be played solo or with friends: online or in split-screen mode. A second player can join the session at any time. The scientists' appearances are customizable.
