Out of Space – a co-op strategy game about life on a spaceship from the Brazilian studio Behold Studios, the creators of Knights of Pen & Paper and Chroma Squad. The game entered early access in April 2019, and the full version was released on February 26, 2020. Shipmates You and your friends move into a shared house in the middle of space, and it quickly becomes clear that life here isn't easy. Alien slime is spreading throughout the compartments, aliens are threatening the crew, and the housework requires constant attention. There are no weapons at all in the game: the main weapon against threats is a simple mop. Each game starts on a new, randomly assembled ship, so a plan that worked last time might not work. Slime, batteries and beds The economy here is based on recycling. Garbage and collected slime are sent to a recycling center, generating energy and recharging batteries, without which the ship would quickly grind to a halt. Food is grown on board: beds must be sown and harvested in time to ensure there's enough for the entire crew. The earnings are used to purchase new equipment and decide where to store it. Gradually, the crew expands to adjacent compartments and explores automation technologies. Robots take on harvesting and cleaning duties, and dogs are also welcome on board to help with housework. Together or alone You can play solo, but the game was designed for group play. There's local single-screen co-op, including split-screen for up to four players, and online play. Games are short, the rules are simple, and the challenge lies in agreeing on who cleans, who repairs, and who tends to the garden. Decisions you make impact both the immediate minutes and the entire game. Quests and achievements unlock new content. The developers recommend a gamepad.
