Near the Fear – an arcade racing game with roguelike and psychological horror elements from independent developer mondzi, supported by the Slovak Arts Council. You find yourself alone in an unfamiliar world, racing toward the light, pursued by an ancient enemy who lives in your head. The Road Through the Subconscious The action takes place in the surreal space of the human subconscious. The route is constantly reconfigured, and everything around you tries to hinder you. The worlds are noticeably different: a dense, fleshy landscape between neural synapses, the broken roads of a lost civilization, or a misty forest that leads astray. In each, the pursuer takes on a new form. The goal is the same: prevent them from catching up and reaching the exit. Light or darkness The world adapts to your driving style. Tracks, environments, and even music change depending on your playstyle. If you turn into the darkness, the surroundings become increasingly gloomy. If you resist it, the path leads to calm and harmonious places. So the same journey can feel completely different. One life You only have one life in the race, the tracks are generated anew, and failure is part of the plan. After each failure, new abilities and upgrades are unlocked, allowing you to progress further in your next attempt. The game features stylized 3D graphics and is best played with a gamepad. It shares only the name with the FEAR series, which is also available on the website: one is a shooter about soldiers and the paranormal, while the other is a race through someone else's mind.
