Meridian: New World – a sci-fi real-time strategy game with RPG elements from Elder Games, released on April 4, 2014. Hungarian developer Ede Tarsoy created almost the entire game single-handedly, with friends contributing only some resources. Headup Games served as the publisher. Expedition to Meridian You play as Daniel Hanson, commander of the first expedition to the planet Meridian. The planet was thought uninhabited, so a distress signal from its surface comes as a complete surprise. The story then uncovers the dark secrets of this world. Between missions, Hanson speaks with the crew, and the decisions in these dialogues influence the outcome. The crew's attitude toward the commander also depends on his performance: the more soldiers you lose, the worse your subordinates think of you. Base, economy and sabotage Production buildings, barracks, mines, defensive and watchtowers are constructed at each level. Infantry, robots, ground vehicles, and aircraft are under your command, and units can be equipped with various equipment. There are several paths to victory. You can research powerful weapons and special abilities that can be used anywhere on the battlefield. You can build a large economy and overwhelm the enemy with numbers. Or you can sabotage and disable the enemy's base to disrupt its production. Terrain is also important: units on higher ground and behind cover take less damage. For lovers of the classics The author himself calls the game an old-school RTS in the spirit of strategy games of yesteryear. In addition to the campaign, there's a level editor, and maps can be published on the Steam Workshop. It shares only the name with Dread Meridian. The requirements are very modest, so download it.
