Master of Magic – a remake of the classic 1994 turn-based fantasy strategy game from MuHa Games and Eerie Forest Studio, published by Slitherine, releasing on December 13, 2022. You play as one of the great mages who divide two parallel worlds between them, and in the end, the title of Master of Magic will go to only one. A magician instead of a king The game begins with choosing a ruler. There are 14 pre-made mages, but you can customize your own: five schools of magic and 18 character traits are available, which determine the spells available and how your development progresses. Next, you choose a race for your first capital. There are also 14 races, including elves, dwarves, trolls, orcs, gnolls, draconians, and klaken, each with its own troops and strengths. In total, the game features 196 unit types and over 60 special abilities. Arcanus and Mirror The world consists of two layers: Arcanus and Mirror. They exist in parallel, and struggle for influence must be waged across both. Rival mages also expand their holdings, recruit armies, and learn spells, but everyone shares a common goal. Battles are turn-based on a tactical map, and magic is often more important than numbers: a single spell can turn the tide. Outside of battle, research, alchemy, and rituals take place, transforming the world itself. There are over two hundred spells to learn, and over 250 magical items, some of which are handcrafted. Remake and original There is also on the site Master of Magic Classic, the very same SimTex game from 1994. The remake closely follows its mechanics, but with new 3D graphics, an updated interface, and occasionally simplified rules. If you're looking for the old spirit with a pixelated map, the classic is perfect, but the new version is a better first step.
