Mars or Die! – a tower defense/roguelike mashup from the Italian studio 34BigThings, released on July 13, 2018. The crew of the interplanetary ship FORTITVDO VIII lands on Mars under orders from the "enlightened Supreme Leader" and must survive, gather resources, and fend off the one-eyed Martians. Two heroes at the same time The game's key feature is that you control two characters at once. Scout B. Bean is fast and protected by a personal repulsion shield, making him ideal for resource raids. Major B. Bob is slower, but fires mercilessly and holds the line. Hence the tactic: while one is busy gathering resources, the other covers the camp, requiring you to keep an eye on both at once. A base in the middle of the desert While the crew gathers resources and takes soil samples, Martians of all sizes, from small to very large, descend upon the camp. You build the base yourself: automated harvesters extract raw materials, generators provide oxygen, and weapons factories produce equipment. For defense, there are automated turrets with single and dual barrels, and the list of buildings even includes a flag. Each building requires resources, so you have to decide on the fly what to build first, and a mistake can quickly lead to a breach of the defense. Campaign and Endless Mode The major 1.2 update added a nine-mission campaign, new turrets, larger aliens, and a Hardcore difficulty. After the campaign, you can enter Endless Mode and see how many waves you can survive; your results are posted to the leaderboards.
