The title of this game translates as "Layers of Fear." It's easy to guess that this is a horror game, and one dedicated to an artist. The protagonist is a genius, albeit a deranged one. He applies paint to a canvas, but life takes a nasty toll on his psyche. Indeed, it's impossible to accuse the Polish studio Bloober Team of lacking originality. Its employees are true admirers of 19th-century art. In a sense, Layers of Fear resembles a tour, not of a museum, but of the deeply disturbed mind of an artist. You can participate in this cultural event starting August 27th, although access is only open to PC owners; console versions are not yet promised. Layers of Fear: Inheritance's uniqueness lies not only in its intriguing plot but also in its constantly changing environments. Some might say this is fairly standard, as procedural generation is used in every other game these days. While that's true, there's a unique system at work here: the level literally transforms before your eyes; a change in perspective means a change in the setting. Incidentally, the events unfold in an old studio-style building. And it's not called a studio because of its layout. Here, our protagonist creates — paints. Unfortunately, this is always accompanied by torment, but something impressive is born. The player's goal is to defeat the mind monsters. However, it's possible they are real...
