In May, the newly formed studio Define Human launched a Kickstarter campaign to support its debut multiplayer project, Islands of Nyne. In less than a month, the required funds were raised, meaning the planned December release of this year will definitely happen, and anyone who wants to download Islands of Nyne via torrent will be able to do so. The game is being developed in a new, popular genre — arena survival. Several players, in this case 100, are dropped into different corners of a fairly large battlefield and battle each other with the goal of emerging as the sole victor. The gameplay is varied thanks to, firstly, large, diverse arenas (three in total) with a variety of elements; secondly, the need to find weapons and ammunition, upgrade them, as well as the character; and thirdly, the ability to use vehicles. The gameplay features, and therefore its interesting aspects, don't end there. One of the key elements is the plasma ring that appears at a certain point and gradually narrows toward the center of the arena, forcing opponents closer together. A safe zone remains within the plasma ring, and anyone caught on its edge or outside it will slowly evaporate into nothingness. Another interesting feature is the game modes. There are three main ones: solo, duos, and team. In the first, each of the 100 players competes for themselves, in the second, it's a team of 100 players, and in the third, it's a team of 5. The rules are always the same. There's also a single-player training mode, in which your progress doesn't count toward the tournament standings. The project will initially be released on Windows and OS X, with a version for VR headsets also in development, and will later appear on next-gen consoles.
