Into The Depths – a card roguelike about an underground colony from independent developer SmelJey, released on June 10, 2026. You lead an expedition down through caves, build an outpost with cards from a deck, and try to go as deep as possible before running out of food. Settlement from a deck Every turn, you draw cards, and almost all of them are transformed into structures on the board. Some provide materials, others feed people, and still others open the way further down. Resources are depleted, so you have to think several turns ahead: well-placed cards enhance each other, while a poor placement wastes supplies. As your settlement grows, so do the mouths to feed, and rations become your primary concern. By leveling up your research, you add new cards to your deck and acquire relics that change the rules in your favor. Four tiers of caves The descent passes through four biomes. First, there are the desolate upper levels, followed by misty, flooded caves, then scorching lava fissures, and at the very bottom, the Abyss. Each tier has its own resources and dangers, so a deck that worked well at the top may begin to stall at the bottom. The caves are regenerated with each attempt, and there's no familiar route. New attempt Failure of an expedition doesn't reset everything. Permanent upgrades are unlocked between runs, and the starting deck can be customized to suit your approach: some emphasize food, others a quick descent. The game is compact and minimalist in appearance, with a turn-based pace, so you can think through your moves as much as you like. It has little in common with similarly named From The Depths and Dive The Depths: there are no ships or diving, just a deck and a colony.
