Home Life Simulator – a humorous self-isolation simulator, released on May 22, 2020, at the height of the pandemic. On Steam, the game is currently called Stayhome Simulator, developed by Two Inc and published by Click Games. The credits on the website list Putin and Trump as the authors, which nicely captures the overall tone. Quarantine as a genre This is a parody game about the spring of 2020, and it's not meant to be taken seriously. The tasks are taken from the news and memes of the time: stay home so your paycheck keeps rolling in, go to the store, don't forget your mask and hand sanitizer, and get a city pass. There are also tasks with a dark humorous twist, such as visiting relatives with an eye on their property. Items include buckwheat, toilet paper, masks, and virtual reality glasses — everything that was flying off the shelves back then. Familiar faces There are over twenty characters, and almost all are recognizable at first glance. The game features Kim Jong-un, Putin, Trump, Ricardo Milos, Glad Valakas, a "real hard worker," anime girls, and other internet heroes. There are over ten locations, and you can furnish and upgrade your own room over time. Background music plays throughout, and the game has one hundred Steam achievements unlocked for a variety of pranks. Who is it for The game is short and cheap, made quickly and on-the-nose, so don't expect much depth. But it runs on almost any computer: two gigabytes of RAM and less than a gigabyte of disk space will suffice. If you're looking for some quarantine memes, download it.
