Gods Will Fall – an action game with roguelike elements from the Scottish studio Clever Beans, released by Deep Silver on January 29, 2021. Instead of a single hero, you have a squad of eight Celtic warriors, and you'll have to lose them one by one. Island of the Ten Gods The army that sailed to overthrow the gods perished at sea, and only eight men reached shore. The island has ten doors, each leading to the lair of a separate deity, complete with its own servants and a design inspired by its element. You choose your own order of play. The difficulty of each god is variable: in one game, they might be easy, while in another, they're the most dangerous on the island. The warriors are also new each time, with random names, appearances, and weapons: twin maces, spears, heavy axes, and swords. One warrior per door One person enters the lair. If they make a mistake in combat with the servants or the god himself, the deity takes them prisoner, and the party shrinks. They can try the same door again, sending another fighter through, or switch to another god. Prisoners are freed when the lair's master is defeated, so a lost warrior sometimes returns to the ranks. If everyone dies, the game starts over with a new group. The enemy positions in the lairs are preserved until the player loses, and the second attempt begins with an understanding of where the ambush awaits. Combat and equipment The fights here are close and intense, requiring careful timing for every blow. Weapons can be picked up from defeated enemies and thrown at subsequent enemies. Items found in one lair are carried forward: throwing knives, spike traps, and healing food. Some dungeons feature jumping sections where a fall is as costly as a missed hit.
