About the game
Football Manager 2024 – a football manager from Sports Interactive and SEGA, released on November 6, 2023. Following FM23, where the main news was the UEFA license, this one focuses on standards, the transfer market, and Japanese football, and allows players to continue their career from the previous installment without starting from scratch. Standards coach A new position has been added to the staff: a set-piece coach. This coach creates corner and penalty kick plans based on your attacking and defensive preferences. Players are assigned four roles: aerial threat, penalty area threat, cover, and takers. Roles are assigned based on characteristics, not positions, so after an injury or substitution, nothing needs to be manually reconfigured. Tactics now include the role of an inverted full-back, who plays wide in defense and then shifts centrally with the ball, becoming a third central defender. Intermediaries and transfer room Finances have become less stable. Transfer budgets can be exceeded, but if the funds aren't repaid within the agreed-upon deadline, the board of directors will intervene. The sporting director can hire an intermediary to generate interest in a player or help close a sale, for up to ten percent of the total. Instead of the old method of sending offers to clubs, a transfer room is now in place, where the staff collects incoming proposals. Agents can now be used to determine whether a player is ready for a transfer. Japan and saving transfers The J-League has been added to the game: all three divisions, 60 clubs with official emblems and kits for the 2023 season. The match engine has been updated with a Match Motion animation system, new ball physics, and improved lighting. Upon first launch, the game offers the option to load a career from FM23, and there are three starting modes for the new career, from current squads to a mode where transfers are based on actual season dates.
