Escape the Loop – an open-world adventure from the German studio Pixel Maniacs, creators of the puzzle game ChromaGun. The heroine is stuck in a time loop: every five minutes the world resets to its original state, and only her memory is preserved. Five minutes for everything The loop is short, and that's the game's key requirement. You can walk around the area, talk to people, and do something during the allotted time, after which everything starts over again. Each new loop repeats the previous one exactly, unless the heroine intervenes. People say the same things, events happen at the same moments. Only the player can change the course of the loop, and any change triggers a chain of consequences. The action is shown in third person, and the world itself is open, so the order in which you explore it is up to you. Memory as a tool Objects and progress don't carry over from one circle to another, only knowledge. Who will be where at a given moment, what will happen if you distract someone or preempt an event: all of this is remembered and used in the next attempt. The challenge is to understand what's causing the time glitch and find a way to escape the loop. The plot is driven by dialogue, exploration, and choices that have consequences. The fate of the project The development was supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA program and the Bavarian foundation FFF Bayern. The developers later wrote on their Steam page that the project was stuck in development hell and was not being actively developed, so a full release was not yet planned.
