Death Must Die – a bullet-heaven RPG roguelike from Realm Archive, released in Steam Early Access on November 14, 2023. It's structured like Vampire Survivors: the hero attacks hordes of enemies, while you move, dodge, and choose power-ups. The goal is stated right in the title: descend into the underworld and end Death. Circles of the Underworld Many heroes have already gone to Death, and none have returned. The underworld is divided into circles, each guarded by its own Guardian, and on the way to them, thousands of Death's minions must be mowed down. Along the way, ancient shrines, mythical creatures, and other inhabitants of these places are encountered. Between runs, the hero returns with what he has found, and the next attempt begins a little stronger. There are several characters, each with their own traits that change the gameplay style and their own personal story. Gods and their blessings The key to a character's build is the blessings of the gods, each of whom has sided with one of their own. Summer grants fire, leaving flames on the ground; Winter freezes and immobilizes; Crom is responsible for saws, chains, and ruptures; Mort, the daughter of Death, curses enemies and summons skeletal ravens. There's the lightning god Leigun; the Fates, who boost stats and grant re-rolls; the goddess of justice, who grants barriers and healing; and the god of time, who accelerates leveling. There are hundreds of blessings, and the key is to find combinations that complement each other. Objects and relics Besides blessings, there are random items, and a successful find makes subsequent runs much easier. The chance of finding lost relics can be increased, but then the Legions of Death become stronger, so greed is punished. Some achievements are downright difficult.
