Sand gradually engulfs cities and equipment, resources are running low, and every foray outside the shelter becomes a risky quest for food, materials, and a chance to survive another day. The Wasteland kills no worse than the infected. Here, you have to monitor not only your enemies but also your character's health. Thirst, hunger, fatigue, and injuries gradually become more pressing than any firefight, especially during long forays through open areas. Wrecked vehicles, old laboratories, abandoned bases, and dilapidated cities hide useful resources, but they also attract infected, who become noticeably more dangerous after dark. The collected materials are used to build a shelter, craft weapons, and fortify defenses against the next wave of enemies. Traps can be set, walls reinforced, and gradually transform a small shelter into a full-fledged desert fortress.
