A crowdfunding campaign launched in late February to determine whether the torrent version of Corsairs: Black Spot, or "Corsairs 4," will be available for download in 2019. Yes, one of the best Russian series, which began at the very end of the last century and ended in 2012, is planning to be revived. And we're talking about the people who developed the original. Not Akella, though, but a company called Black Sun, which has been around since 2014. Of course, this has led to a lot of legal discussion, but in this article, we'll focus on the gaming side. Plans Producer Renat Nezametdinov, screenwriter Konstantin Sapronenkov, publishing head Andrey Zemlyanoy, and other team members promise that "Corsairs: Black Spot" will be a brutally violent game. While the Caribbean may be considered a tropical paradise today, in the 17th century, when filibusters ruled, these islands and waters were a veritable tropical hell. It was a cruel and depraved time. Therefore, the game is aimed at an audience over 18 and will feature explicit scenes of violence and sexuality. To ensure realism, the game will use Unreal Engine 4. Goals The developers aim to create a virtual world steeped in salt and blood, but not one that accurately reflects historical reality. The goal is to convey atmosphere. Therefore, the new "Corsairs" will feature such legendary figures as the Kraken and the Ghost Ship. At the same time, expect to see the appearance of historical figures, some of whom you'll even have to make your own victims, as bounty hunting is a key component of the game. It's worth noting that gamers will be able to become not only pirates or privateers, but also merchants and civil servants. There are even more appearance options — hundreds, if not thousands. Piracy forever This wild game, like its predecessors, will be primarily about more than island hopping: the ship is the main habitat. It requires as much care as the hero. Both will have their own development tree and combat system. It's worth noting that the developers have thoroughly studied the techniques of the great fencing masters of the time and plan to showcase these strikes and dodges to players in all their glory, as well as the intricacies of using early firearms, including enormous cannons. There are many plans, but the crowdfunding campaign's goal is quite modest: 2 million rubles. Clearly, this won't even cover a tenth of the total. Why did Black Sun make this move? On the QIWI Fundl website, where the fundraising is being conducted, they explain that they plan to demonstrate public interest to investors. If all goes well, the company will receive 6 million USD. This allows them to expect a AAA-quality game, a worthy continuation of the legend. Therefore, to one day be able to download Corsairs: Black Spot via torrent for free from us, it would be a good idea to at least support the project.
