About the game

Catapult for Hire – an indie arcade game with gunplay physics from pixelMEGA Games, a small project primarily developed by a single developer, Tyrone Henry. The game was first shown to the public at MineCon in 2011, and its protagonist is a knight out of work. A knight on free bread Sir Nottingsworth is used to conquering kingdoms, but times are hard, and there's little left to conquer. So the knight takes up a catapult and hires himself out to the townspeople. Their orders are varied, and not always involve destruction. Each mission is framed by a cutscene with dialogue, rich in humor. After a short tutorial, a world map with waypoints opens, and the missions themselves take place in 3D locations. What to shoot with The shot is manually adjusted: angle, power, and direction. A line shows the projected trajectory, and a trace of the previous throw remains nearby, making it easy to correct missed shots. Ammunition varies depending on the mission. Rabbits are easy to aim with and cause no damage. Bombs explode on the target. Flashlights illuminate dark caves, lures are used to catch fish in the lake, and parachutes can be attached to projectiles to catch them in the wind. There are also special missions, like catapult golf. Money and Fortress A job well done earns more, and the earnings go toward new catapults and shells. The knight also has his own house, which eventually grows with walls and buildings. The graphics are bright and simple, and the retro music was written in collaboration with composer Matthias Gerdt.
