About the game
Call of the Lake "The Young Pioneer" is a short psychological horror film in the spirit of Soviet memoirs of childhood, camps, and the disturbing stories that used to be whispered late at night. The protagonist arrives at a pioneer camp near a remote lake, where at first everything seems all too familiar: pine trees, old buildings, walks, conversations around the campfire, and the feeling of an ordinary summer. But gradually, the familiar atmosphere begins to change and transform into something far more unpleasant. Fear here is born from little things The forest suddenly becomes too quiet, strange rumors begin to circulate, and the lake itself evokes a sense of something alive and wrong. The game barely relies on jump scares — instead, it overwhelms with sounds, VHS effects, fog, and a constant sense of unease, as if the tranquil imagery conceals a story no one wants to tell. The Soviet aesthetic is a distinct feature. Old camp buildings, cool blue tones, cutscenes, and a general sense of a forgotten past create a strange mixture of nostalgia and discomfort. As the game progresses, decisions begin to shape how the story unfolds, gradually leading to different endings connected to the mystery of the lake and events that have been kept silent for too long. Features of the game Psychological horror with Soviet aesthetics. A pioneer camp, a lake and a dark secret of the past. VHS style and atmospheric video inserts. Elections and multiple endings.
