Artist Life Simulator – a card-based roguelike about the life of an artist from the Estonian studio Interactive Fate, the full version was released on December 13, 2022. The protagonist lives in an alternate 19th century and tries to create a masterpiece before poverty, illness, or his own brain destroys him. Capital of Art The game takes place in Oportunia, considered the world capital of contemporary art. Everything in the game is represented by hand-drawn cards: people, places, books, thoughts, and feelings can be combined, collected, discussed, visited, and read. A successful combination creates a new card and a new opportunity. The graphics were created almost entirely by a team of three over several years, with some use of old, publicly available illustrations from the 18th and 19th centuries. Feelings as a resource The main battlefield here is within the hero. There are 66 emotions in the game, each with its own effect. Frustration, anxiety, anger, guilt, sadness, addictions, and temptations only intensify over time if left unchecked. There are various ways to cope: distilling suffering into art, seeking love, joy, and peace, or heading to Bar Avenue. Poverty and illness are still present, and the hero could very well die of illness, go mad, or become an alcoholic. After each death, the outcome of their life and the legacy they left behind are revealed. Eighteen finals There are 18 endings: some are considered minor victories, others major ones. The biggest one requires you to create a painting that will change the world. For genre fans, there's a no-holds-barred mode where mistakes are not forgiven.
